More About Our K271 Wood Bat

The K271 is a youth wood bat that is great for the young power hitter. While still meeting Little League 1.10 rules, it features a longer barrel and a medium flared knob for the bigger kid.

Versus the K455 youth wood bat, the K271 features a noticeably longer barrel to give more space to hit, providing some additional durability for the player who tends to mash...but maybe not always on the sweet spot . But, with a longer barrel comes more weight out towards the barrel end of the bat, so it really is appropriate primarily for the bigger kid in the age group who can handle a little extra barrel weight. The knob and handle, featuring a moderate flare, was borrowed from our BB71 pro series baseball bat.

K271 wood bats stats:
Barrel loaded
Moderate flare from the handle in to the knob
2-1/4" barrel
15/16" handle
-8 drop (length - drop = weight in ounces. Ex: 31" bat = 23 oz)
Maple for extra durability

Typical user:
Youth who is big for his age and is the big hitter on the team.

Will your child be able to handle a wood bat that has a -8 drop weight (length minus drop weight = bat weight in ounces)?
Definitely! Remember, metal bats have become so light that they do not accurately represent what weight is appropriate for a youth to learn how to hit effectively. A properly weighted youth bat levels the hitter's swing, enabling the youth to drive the ball. Goodbye goofy low-to-high metal bat pop-fly swing, hello baseballs headed to the gaps and beyond.

Little League Wood Bat Compliance:
Per Little League rule 1.10, bats for Little League (majors) and below, shall be a smooth, rounded stick and made of wood or of material tested and proved acceptable to Little League standards. It shall not be more than 33 inches in length, not be more than two and one-quarter inches in diameter, and if wood, not less than fifteen-sixteenth inches in diameter (7/8 inch for bats less than 30 inches) at its smallest part.
All Phoenix Bats youth wood bats meet or exceed Little League standards.
