About the K240 Youth Wood Baseball Bat:
The K240 is a well balanced, properly weighted, wood youth bat that is great for teaching a young player how to hit with wood. Plus it meets specs for game use! Unlike the K455, the K240 features a slow transition from the barrel in to the handle. This provides additional thickness for those younger players who tend to miss-hit the ball on the lower part of the barrel, towards the decal. This makes it perfect for youth trying to master hitting the sweet spot, especially the inexperienced 10-11 year old in a wood bat tournament.
K240 Fast Ship Youth Wood Bat Stats: (same specs as standard K240)

Will your child be able to handle a wood bat that has a -7 drop weight (length minus drop weight = bat weight in ounces)?
Definitely! Remember, metal bats have become so light that they do not accurately represent what weight is appropriate to learn how to hit effectively. Too light: a golf-like low to high, improper swing appears. Too heavy: shoulders drop, wrists turn and the barrel head gets dragged through the zone.A properly weighted youth bat levels the hitter's swing, enabling the youth to drive the ball. Goodbye golf-like low-to-high metal bat pop-fly swing, hello baseballs headed to the gaps and beyond.
Which wood type is right for your player?
Phoenix offers the K455 Youth Wood Bat in birch species. Birch supports the highest balance between proper weight (absolutely critical to developing the right swing) and durability (especially when not hitting on the proper side of the bat, which is why we do not offer youth bats in ash). For undisciplined hitters, birch is more forgiving, especially when not having the logo facing the sky when striking the ball or when miss-hitting further up or down the barrel.
