About 125 years before the current star, Boston had another famous shortstop who could swing a bat. His name was Ross Barnes and his bat was a bit bigger than you are likely to see used today. This bat was reproduced using a series of photographs from 1869 to 1875. The bat is 38 inches long and weighs nearly 40 ounces.
