because this bat is heavy. From 1871 until the 1890's Adrian "Cap" Anson played professional base ball. While some of his personality traits might not have been too nice his bat was awesome. This bat has a handle that is over 1 1/4 inches thick, which is good because it needs to be thick enough to support this 37 inch hunk of tree. The amazing thing is that not only did Anson use it but he used it very effectively, hitting over .300 for numerous seasons.
