JK5 Wood Baseball Bat Description
Just starting to swing a full-sized wood bat, coming up from our DR100 youth bat, or just wanting a little more bat speed? The JK5 is the lightest of the Phoenix wood baseball bats, with a length-to-weight difference of -3. It has the same barrel as the BB71, but with a straighter handle transition in to the knob, replicated from the B455. It was custom designed for a Phoenix wood bat user. Now he gets his “JK” initials attached to it!
Just like the BB71, the JK5 professional series wood baseball bat is great for the singles and doubles hitter. It’s also available in three woods: Rock maple, northern white ash, or our wood composite. This wood bat has nice pop to slap it in to the gaps. It’s a really good fit for the prototypical lead-off, second and ninth hitter in the line-up.
JK5 wood bat stats:
2-1/2" slightly weighted barrel
15/16" fairly straight handle
-3 in maple and ash
Typical user:
1, 2, 9-hole hitter in the line-up
Anyone transitioning from a youth to an adult bat
Anyone wanting a solid wood bat, but who is concerned about weight
Not a fan of a flared handle? Try our BB71 pro series wood bat—it’s the same barrel as the JK5, with a more flared transition from the handle in to the knob.
Remember, if you tend to get jammed, go with a maple bat. If you tend to take balls off the barrel end, consider an ash bat. And if you tend to hit it all over the bat, go with our all wood composite bat for extra durability. Want more distance? Both the maple bat and the composite bat give you a little more distance, typically 10-15 feet over an ash bat.
Not sure which bat to go with? Take the Phoenix Bat challenge: try a bat for 10 days and if you don’t like it send it back. More details here.
